Energy conservation, efficiency improvement and green development are important ways to promote economic structural adjustment and transform the mode of economic development, and are also effective measures to achieve the “dual carbon” goals.

Shanxi Oriental Resources Development Group Co., Ltd. is the largest ferromanganese producer in China, producing 550,000 tons of high-carbon ferromanganese and 200,000 tons of medium- and low-carbon ferromanganese per year, accounting for half of the national market share. A large amount of surplus coal gas will be generated during the ironmaking process. In order to maximize the utilization of these coal gas resources, in April 2023, with the strong support of the Jishan County Party Committee, the County Government and the Economic and Technological Development Zone, Shanxi Oriental Resources Development Group Co., Ltd. launched a 1×135MW ultra-supercritical coal gas comprehensive utilization distributed power generation project. This project has far-reaching significance for further improving the comprehensive utilization rate of coal gas and consolidating the company’s existing circular industrial chain.

Project Overview

The project covers an area of ​​about 38 acres, with a total investment of 508 million yuan. It mainly constructs a 135MW intermediate single reheat condensing steam turbine and a 135MW generator set, and a 430t/h direct current boiler.

 

This project is one of the key projects of Shanxi Oriental Resources Development Group Co., Ltd. in recent years for transformation, quality improvement and upgrading. It adopts the most advanced ultra-supercritical power generation technology and is also the first project in the province to apply this technology. The gas utilization rate is increased by more than 5% compared with the ultra-high temperature subcritical units of the same scale.

After the project is completed and put into operation, the company will use the surplus blast furnace gas, electric furnace gas and coke oven gas in the entire plant to generate electricity, which can generate 1.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. On the basis of meeting the company’s electricity needs, it will reduce carbon emissions, lower the company’s energy consumption level, and improve the comprehensive utilization rate of resources.

In this project, Ebara Zibo supplied a total of 2 sets of Ebara DCS horizontal double-casing multi-stage pumps as boiler feed pumps and 2 sets of Ebara KS horizontal single-stage double-suction pumps as pre-pumps.

The project technology & design team conducted a comprehensive technical analysis, scientifically demonstrated from multiple aspects such as structural design, material selection, and hydraulic performance, and established a technical solution that matches the project. This technical solution can ensure that the water supply pump group has high flexibility, which can not only meet the requirements of the host operation mode, but also adapt to the requirements of start-stop and variable load. In addition, in order to give the water supply pump group good anti-cavitation performance, the main components of the water pump are made of anti-cavitation materials; the impeller is cast from a wear-resistant and fracture-resistant alloy material with a smooth flow channel; the pump housing has the ability to withstand high-speed water flow.

The project successfully completed its production target in November 2024. In the future, Ebara Zibo will continue to maintain long-term cooperation with Shanxi Oriental Resources, continue to track the on-site use of supplied products, provide refined professional services, and provide all-round support and guarantee for the later operation of the project.

DCS/DCD pumps are horizontal, multi-stage double-casing high-pressure centrifugal pumps with segmental core structure.

The first-stage impeller of DCS is a single-suction structure; the first-stage impeller of DCD is a double-suction structure.

The pump can operate efficiently, durably and stably under high temperature and high pressure conditions, has a long service life and is easy to maintain. It can be customized according to customer needs to meet the needs of various application scenarios.
